New owner for ISLO Hostel
Holiday Linnunlahti Oy has acquired the accommodation business of Itä-Suomen Liikuntaopisto Oy. The change of ownership will take place on 1.3.2025.
Itä-Suomen Liikuntaopisto (ISLO) has been running accommodation operations in the central area of Joensuu on Kalevankatu. The transfer of the accommodation business to a new owner is part of ISLO’s strategic alignment to focus more strongly on its core competences.
“First and foremost, we are a sports training centre. By giving up our accommodation services, we can fully focus on our mission as a developer of the sporting sector. Holiday Linnunlahti has special expertise in the accommodation services sector and it is clear that they will be able to develop the hostel’s activities better than we can,” says Petri Pennanen, CEO of the Eastern Finland Sports Academy.
Pennanen stresses that the transfer of the accommodation business is a natural step in ISLO’s development. “The roots of ISLO’s accommodation activities go back to a time when colleges operated in a boarding school style and over the years the accommodation needs associated with our own activities have diminished. However, it is important for us that the hostel continues to operate so that we can meet the accommodation needs associated with, for example, the organisation of camp activities. The accommodation partnership created by the transaction will also serve the development of the Mehtimäki area, while opening up the possibility of planning new services and events,” says Pennanen.
Holiday Linnunlahti Oy will continue to provide accommodation services at a familiar address, and customers can expect high quality service in the future as well.
